WATERLOO (KWWL) -

George Wyth State Park will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday night due to flooding, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The Cedar River is expected to crest at 92.5 feet at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. Flood stage in Cedar Falls is 88 feet.

It is then expected to crest in Waterloo at 1 a.m. Thursday at 15.2 feet. Flood stage in Waterloo is 13 feet.

The DNR says campers with reservations are being contacted and will receive a full refund.

"Campers have the option of taking a wait-and-see approach until later in the week when they can either have a refund for the nights the campground is closed or cancel the entire reservation," Kevin Szcodronski, chief of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources State Parks Bureau, said in a written statement.

For campground status updates, call the George Wyth State Park office at (319) 232-5505.
