Starting at 6 a.m. onTuesday, crews started making a 400-foot wall of sand that's at least twofeet high in an effort to prevent water from flooding onto the street.

City employees have assuredresidents they do not expect the flooding to be severe, and they are notanticipating a repeat of the flooding in 2008.

Superintendent of Public Works Brian Sullivan said at leastsix trees were blown down from Sunday night's storm.

He said the city received multiple calls for assistance in removing largebranches, and that most of the damage was reported in the northwest part ofWaverly.
