WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Thousands of eastern Iowans are waking up without power Monday morning after a wave of severe weather moved through the viewing area Sunday.

Very few MidAmerican energy customers are experiencing outages in Johnson and Black Hawk counties. Most of the customers experiencing outages as of 7:15 a.m. are in Des Moines.

However, more than 9,000 Alliant Energy customers in Linn County experienced outages Tuesday morning. The company reports crews were working overnight attempting to restore power to those without power.
