Waterloo car show benefits Honor Flight

Dozens of classic cars were on display Sunday in Waterloo, all for a good cause.

Rydell Chevrolet held its fifth annual "Show and Shine" featuring muscle cars, classics, street rods and more.  About 120 cars entered the show and participants ranked their favorites for prizes.

Proceeds from cars registering for the event and t-shirt sales during the show benefit the Waterloo Honor Flight, which is a trip that sends veterans to see the monuments built in their honor in Washington, D.C.

"We appreciate the community's support for the car show here and also for the veterans. You just can't do enough for them, and we've got another group coming along with the Afghan and Iraqi war. We've just got to keep this going for these guys because a lot gave all," said event spokesperson Lon Peterson.

Each year the Rydell "Show and Shine" event has raised between five and ten thousand dollars for the Honor Flight.
