Historic school to close its doors

The building that houses Waterloo's Orange Elementary has been erect since 1915, but class will no longer be held at this historic school after this year.

Students, faculty and staff from past and present filled the Orange Elementary Gymnasium Thursday evening to pay tribute to their school. Alumni reminisced about Orange, which was originally a K-12 building. Current students and administrators also spoke about what the 99-year-old school means to them. The public was also allowed to roam the halls of the building one last time.

The new Orange Elementary will open next fall just one block away from its current location.
