Black Hawk star grabs two USHL awards

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Almost one year to the day after the United States Hockey League conferred its Rookie of the Year award on Taylor Cammarata last spring, the league has recognized the Waterloo Black Hawks' top scorer as both its Forward and Player of the Year for 2012/13 on Wednesday.

The Plymouth, Minnesota native led not only the Black Hawks but the entire USHL with 93 points in 59 regular season appearances.  His 38 goals were also the best figure in the league, while 55 assists placed him second only to linemate Justin Kloos.  Other notable metrics of Cammarata's success were his 21.1 shooting percentage (second in the USHL), +39 plus/minus rating (best on the team, fourth in the league), ten power play goals (tied for most among Waterloo skaters), five game-winning goals (second on the roster), and three shootout markers (club best in 2012/13).  The University of Minnesota recruit also helped the U.S. Junior Select Team to a gold medal at the 2012 World Junior A Challenge and appeared in USA Hockey's All-American Prospects Game and the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game during 2012/13.
