CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Intermec has opened a new Cedar Rapids office.
Wednesday was the ribbon cutting for the new Cedar Rapids technology center.
Intermec is a workforce performance company that develops technology like voice recognition. They have more than 200 employees in Cedar Rapids.
When the company was looking to re-build after the flood of 2008, they decided they wanted to stay in Eastern Iowa.
"It's the people here," said Robert Driessnack, Chief Financial Officer. "So when you have more than 200 people in a location and they're the heart and soul of a lot of what you've done, the technologies you've developed over the years, you don't want to disrupt that."
