CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Former Iowa Hawkeye football star Micah Hyde returned to eastern Iowa recently to give back by presenting donated items to the Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Rapids.

Hyde, of course, has been a little busy himself after being picked in the fifth round of the NFL Draft last month by the Green Bay Packers.

Hyde was with the team over the weekend participating in a mandatory, three-day mini camp.

He said being around NFL stars is a bit intimidating, but he is excited about his prospects of making the Packers roster.

"Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews and AJ Hawk and them were in the locker room and I was kind of star-struck for a second," Hyde said. "I was kind of sitting at my locker trying not to look too hard because I'm not a fan anymore. I'm actually in the locker room trying to compete for a job.

"I'm a confident person," he continued. "I feel like I'm going to make the team and, I mean, you can't go into the whole situation thinking you're not going to make the team. So I'm going in with eyes open and ready to take somebody's job and, like I said, hopefully come late August I'll have a job here."
