Fighting Saints take 2-0 series lead on Fargo

The Dubuque Fighting Saints scored twice in the first period and never looked back en route to a 4-1 win over Fargo on Saturday night.  The win gave Dubuque a 2-0 series advantage, and moved the Saints within one victory of capturing the Clark Cup.

Peter Quenneville opened the scoring with a rocket blast from the left wing in to the back of the net.  The Saints added a shorthanded tally from Matt Benning to lead 2-0 after the first period.

Fargo managed to pull within one midway through the second, but minutes later Frank Dichiara, behind the net, found Quenneville for his second goal of the night and his 6th of the playoffs.  Dubuque added an empty netter from Mike Szmatula late in the third to round out the scoring.

The Fighting Saints will get their first opportunity to capture the Clark Cup on Friday night in Fargo.
