OMAHA (KWWL) -

It had been 23 years in the making.  The UNI softball team defeated Evansville 2-1 on Saturday afternoon to win the Missouri Valley tournament for the first time since 1990.  The Panthers will learn their NCAA tournament draw on Sunday night.

UNI trailed most of the game after the aces scored on an error in the third inning.  The Panthers, however, finally found the plate in the 6th.  Kristin Lock picked up a 2 out base hit with the bases loaded scoring 2 runs.

The Panther defense sat 3 Evansville batters down in order in the 7th for the victory.  Jamie Fisher earned her 61st victory, making her the winningest pitcher in UNI program history.
