Clayton County authorities investigating apparent vandalism

Clayton County authorities are investigating a series of apparent vandalism cases involving destroyed mailboxes.

On Saturday, May 4, authorities were called out to an address in rural Postville for a mailbox that was destroyed using an explosive device. The investigation lead authorities to another similar incident at an address in rural Elgin. 

After further investigation, authorities determined both incidents were related and fireworks were illegally used to destroy the mailboxes. 

The Clayton County Sheriff's office continues to investigate the incidents. Authorities ask anyone with any information that could aid the investigation to submit tips to the tip line: 563-245-1234
