Cedar Falls boys capture MVC Valley meet

The Cedar Falls boys track team captured the title at Monday's MVC Valley division track meet.  The Tigers scored 152 points, 23 ahead of second place Cedar Rapids Prairie.  Favorite Linn-Mar rested a lot of their top athletes in anticipation for Thursday's state qualifying meet.

Cedar Falls captured six event titles during the meet.  Kalund Brown won the high jump and got another title as part of the Tigers shuttle hurdle relay team.  Ross Pierschbacher won the shot put,  Zach Shippy sprinted to the 200 meters title, Jared Failor took the 800, while Jaime Zarate and Timothy Sevcik finished first and second respectively in the 1,600 meters.

Waterloo West took a couple of titles as well.  Alex Hottle anchored the 4 x 800 relay team to top honors, and Dequayvious Martin won the long jump leaping 22 feet, 2 and a half inches.
