A new study shows that grocery shopping while you are hungry could mean more unhealthy foods in your cart, according to NBC News.

Researches compared the food choices for grocery shoppers who had fasted for at least five hours to those who had just recently eaten.

There was no difference in the total number of items purchased. However, the hungrier participants bought more high-calorie foods than those who were already full.

In a similar study, comparing time of day shopping, it was found that those who shopped later in the afternoon bought a higher proportion of unhealthy foods than those who shopped at times when they may not be so hungry.
