FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) -

Jeremiah Mumford and William Clayton, the two men charged in a bank robbery and shootout last October, pleaded guilty to charges they faced in Fayette County.

Mumford, 25, and Clayton, 19, were charged with first-degree robbery, terrorism and two counts of attempted murder in Fayette County following the robbery of the Maynard Savings Bank on Oct. 30.

The Iowa Attorney General's Office says the pair pleaded guilty to the first-degree robbery and attempted murder charges. The state dropped the terrorism charge in exchange for the plea.

The state has recommended that the pair receive 25 years in prison for each attempted murder charge that would be served concurrently. They also recommend that they each receive 25 years in prison for the robbery charge that would be served consecutively with the attempted murder sentence.

The attorney general's office says each would have to serve at least 70 percent of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

Sentencing is set for June 5 at 11 a.m.

The pair still face 35 counts each in Bremer County, including eight counts of attempted murder, five counts of terrorism, six counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and 16 counts of assault on a peace officer.

Police say that while running from law enforcement, the two opened fire on officers that were chasing them in both Fayette County and Bremer County.

Iowa State Trooper Mark Domino and Sumner Police Chief Dennis Cain were injured when hit by bullets. Both officers have since recovered.

Mumford and Clayton were both captured after a search near Frederika that lasted more than seven hours.
