WATERLOO (KWWL) -

An ultralight helicopter crashed near the John Deere Engine Works facility in Waterloo on Monday afternoon, but the pilot reportedly walked away from the crash.

Emergency crews were called to the north side of Ridgeway Avenue, across from the John Deere Engine Works, just before 2 p.m. Monday afternoon to reports that a helicopter had gone down.

Initial reports from the scene are that the pilot did walk away from the crash.

Ronald Harris, 60, of Waverly, was taken to Covenant Medical Center, according to authorities. He's being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory says an ultralight helicopter is too small to be considered an aircraft. Because of this, the crash will be investigated by law enforcement, and not looked into by the FAA.
