CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The City of Cedar Rapids is accepting redevelopment proposals for the former A&W restaurant site at 1126 and 1132 Ellis Boulevard NW that was heavily damaged in the floods of 2008.

The announcement comes after a prior proposal to redevelop the historic site fell through due to lack of funding.

The city purchased the commercial properties through the Voluntary Property Acquisition Program using federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

An informational session will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 4 p.m. in the Blairs Ferry Conference Room located in the lower level of City Hall at 101 First Street SE.

The Community Development Department will give an overview of the proposal process and address specific questions. It will also include a discussion about the criteria that needs to be included in the prospective proposals, evaluation criteria and other information pertinent to properties.

Competitive proposals will be accepted at the Community Development Department, 101 First Street SE, Cedar Rapids, until 11 a.m. June 10.

For more information visit www.CityofCR.com/redevelopment or call the Community Development Department at (319) 286-5041.
