WEST UNION (KWWL) -

A former North Fayette High School and former Waterloo West High School teacher and coach is charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee after a month-long investigation.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested James Martin Hanson, 39, of West Union on Thursday.

Hanson, who is no longer employed by the North Fayette Community School District, was a teacher and girls basketball coach from 2006 until 2013, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Hanson was taken to the Fayette County Jail and was released after posting a $10,000 cash bond.

Since the investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with information related to this case call their office at (563) 422-6067.

The Waterloo Community School District confirms that Hanson worked at Waterloo West High School from August 2003 to June 2006. He was a social studies teacher. He also coached baseball, seventh-grade football and was an assistant girls basketball coach.
