One person was air lifted to a hospital after a shooting Thursday night in Maquoketa.
It happened just before 11:15 p.m. on 208 S. Niagara Street. Police say they discovered resident, 63-year-old Gerald Edwards had been shot. Edwards told police there was an intruder in his house, who shot him, then ran off.
Rescuers took Edwards to the Jackson County Regional Health Center, then airlifted him to Iowa City where he's in stable condition.
Authorities managed to secure the weapon at the scene, and say there is no public safety concern.
