Area Athletes score big at Drake Relays

A great field in the girls 3000 meters which featured Gatorade All-American Anna Holdiman of Waverly-Shell Rock and Linn-Mar super freshman Stephanie Jenks...

In the final 400 meters-- Jenks with a strong finishing kick to pull away to win in the third fastest time in Drake history--- 9:46.02 while Holdiman was fourth...

Linn-Mar nearly making it a sweep in the distance races--- but in the boys 3200 meters the Lions' Josh Evans is passed in the home stretch by Thomas Pollard of Gilbert. Evans gets second in a great time of 9:11.49.

And UNI's Daniel Gooris with an outstanding second day--defends his Drake Relays Decathlon title. Gooris won the pole vault, 15-hundred meters and finished second in the discus to win by 440 points with a great score of 7395.
