Gabe Guertler drove home a rebound just over 6 minutes in to overtime as Fargo defeated Waterloo 4-3, ending the Black Hawks' season in game 5.
The ending was especially bitter since Waterloo held a 3-2 lead in the final minutes. Fargo's Alex Iafallo scored with 3:34 left in the 3rd period to force the overtime in which they eventually won.
Waterloo opened the game strong, scoring on a hard shot from near the blue line by Mark Friedman just 43 seconds in to the game. Austin Ortega countered with a goal late in the period as the Force tied the game going to the second.
Fargo took the lead on Guertler's first goal of the game in that period, but Zach Stepan would score his 3rd goal of the series to tie it going in to the third. Stepan picked up his fourth with just over 12 minutes remaining to give Waterloo a 3-2 lead, which Airflow's tally eventually erased.
The loss ended a Black Hawks' season that saw them tie a team record with 39 regular season wins.
