CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A man faces attempted murder charges in Cedar Rapids after a woman was found assaulted and stabbed this week.

Brian Roche, 21, of Marion, was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse and attempted murder.

Someone called police Sunday evening after finding an injured woman in a stairwell in the 1600 block of Second Avenue SE.

Investigators say Roche first met the 20-year-old woman online, then met her in person on Sunday.

Officers say Roche kept the woman at the Second Avenue address for two hours.

Officers say he choked her, tied her up, then sexually assaulted her.

Roche allegedly stabbed the woman twice, causing life-threatening injuries.

The victim managed to make it to a hallway, where neighbors found her.
