Sewer line broken in Calamus in Clinton County

A main sewer line has broken in the city of Calamus in Clinton County resulting in sewage being bypassed to a road ditch that flows to Calamus Creek.

The broken line was discovered and reported shortly before noon on Saturday. The main serves less than half the city and arrangements were being made to have a repair completed as soon as possible. It is unknown at this time how much volume is being bypassed, but there is a high mixture of stormwater because of recent rainfall.
