500 pooches strut stuff in Waterloo dog show

500 pooches from around the country strutted their stuff this weekend at the Waterloo Kennel Club's annual dog show.

Dogs are taken through an arena and looked over closely by judges to see how good they represent their breed.  The animals ranged in size from shihtzus to St. Bernards.

"It's a matter of polishing that animal to where it can come out and show, knows how to pose, and travel on a lead, and show its best aspects," said Robert Salsbury, Waterloo Kennel Club president.

Dogs earning top prizes at this weekend's show rack up points toward their American Kennel Club rankings, which can earn them a spot to compete in top national contests.
