NEVADA (KWWL) -

Two men face charges, including a worker with the Iowa Department of Transportation after authorities say they swindled the DOT for personal gain.

Authorities arrested David Weigel and Grady Marx after a 2-year investigation.

They say the men allegedly profited from land sales, land leases, and mowing contracts for DOT land.

Authorities say Weigel had been using his job with the DOT to make hundreds of thousands of dollars for himself.

They also say he conspired with Marx to deprive the DOT of more than $237,000.

Weigel had been employed by the DOT from 1995 until the actions came to light in July 2011.

Weigel is in the Polk County Jail while Marx bonded out of the Woodbury County Jail.
