Dubuque defeats Muskegon for 2-0 series lead

Peter Quenneville's second goal of the night wound up being the difference as Dubuque took down Muskegon 4-3 on Friday night.  The victory game the Fighting Saints a commanding 2-0 lead in their best of 5 series.

Quenneville opened the scoring on a hard wrist shot to the back of the net in the first period.  Muskegon countered that goal to tie it at 1-1 going to the second.

Dubuque again took an early lead in the period on Evan Janssen's goal, but again Muskegon soon tied it at 2-2.  This time the Fighting Saints responded as Frank DiChiara fed Karson Kuhlman for the 3-2 advantage.  Just 26 seconds later Quenneville batted a rebound out of the air and in to the net for the 4-2 advantage.

Muskegon pulled their goaltender late in the 3rd, as Jeff Kubiak would score with the extra attacker on the ice.  The Lumberjacks couldn't get the equalizer, however, as the Saints held on for the win.

Dubuque will travel to Muskegon for game 3 on Sunday.
