Finalists announced for Cedar Rapids Kennedy principal

The Cedar Rapids Community School District has announced the five finalists for the principal position at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.

The finalists will visit the school next week to meet with staff, students, parents, and community members. They will then attend a community session that will be held at the end of each school day.

Below is a list of finalists and the day they will visit the school.

April 22 – Cynthia Schnieder, Principal, World Journalism Preparatory School, New York, NY.

April 23 – Shannon Bucknell, Principal, Franklin Middle School, Cedar Rapids.

April 24 – Brian Coppess – Associate Principal, Urbandale Community High School, Urbandale.

April 25 – Aaron Stecker, Associate Principal/Activities Director, Kennedy High School, Cedar Rapids.

April 26 – Jason Kline, Assistant Principal, Myers Park High School, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Once the visits are complete, three candidates will be invited back for a formal interview with superintendent Dr. Dave Benson. Dr. Benson will then make his recommendation to the Board of Education.

The current principal at Kennedy, Dr. Mary Wilcynski, is retiring at the end of the school year.
