North Liberty officers cleared in fatal shooting of Taleb Salameh

Posted:
NORTH LIBERTY (KWWL) -

Three officers were cleared of wrongdoing in the death of a North Liberty man who exchanged gunfire with police last month.

Taleb Salameh, 28, died March 10 after being shot by North Liberty police officers after police were called to 238 Holiday Lodge Road for a domestic disturbance.

The North Liberty Police Department issued a press release Friday afternoon noting that Sgt. Adam Olson and officers Chris Shine and Cody Jacobsen were cleared after an investigation.

"We are very fortunate that three officers were not killed or severely injured," Interim Chief Diane Venenga said in the release.

Two of the officers were treated and released after the incident.

Salameh allegedly shot at officers through a closed door after police arrived, which prompted them to exchange gunfire.

Salameh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Venenga noted the department would be conducting an additional internal review of the event and a review of department policies and procedures.
