Iowa City police make arrest linked to armed robbery


Iowa City Police have arrested one person, but continue looking for an additional suspect after an armed robbery.

It happened at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday at a residence at 211 North Linn Street. Victims tell police two men entered the residence with a handgun and demanded money.

After an altercation between the victims and suspects, the two men fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Later, police found and arrested 28-year-old Nicholas Garner of North Liberty. He is charged with going armed with intent and first degree burglary, among other charges.

The second suspect is described as a large, African American man. Police continue looking for him. If you have any information that could help lead to an arrest, contact Iowa City Police.
