WATERLOO (KWWL) -

One person was taken to the hospital after two vehicles crashed, ending up on the Black Hawk County Courthouse lawn -- with one vehicle actually striking the side of the courthouse.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the Courthouse in Waterloo was loaded into an ambulance. It was unclear if the other driver was injured.

The crash happened at the intersection of East Fifth and Mulberry streets Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. Two SUVs were involved, with both ending up on the courthouse lawn.

Authorities say 25-year-old Lang Suan Khual of Waterloo was heading east on Mulberry Street and ran a red light.  Khual struck another driver heading south, 47-year-old Fikret Ferhatovic, also of Waterloo. Ferhatovic's vehicle hit the courthouse, and he was taken to the hospital with a leg injury.

Khual was charged by deputies with disobeying a traffic signal.
