Hundreds welcome veterans from first Honor Flight

Posted:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Hundreds of family members and friends welcomed about 90 veterans to the Waterloo Regional Airport after returning from an Honor Flight shortly before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The Honor Flight program takes World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. free of charge to see the memorials built in their honor.

Tuesday marked the first Honor Flight of 2013.

It was especially in honor of Bob Cousin's father, a World War II veteran who was supposed to go on the Honor Flight but passed away last week.

A second flight will take place on Tuesday, June 18th and a third flight is scheduled for Tuesday, September, 17th.
