CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Two UNI faculty members will be among the more than 100 people who will become American citizens at the University of Northern Iowa's citizenship oath ceremony Wednesday.

The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in the Maucker Union Old Central Ballroom.

University officials say is the largest number who have ever participated in the event's three-year history.

"It's somewhat unusual for universities to have the opportunity to host a Naturalization Ceremony," said Mark Grey, director of the Iowa Center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration. "We are honored that UNI will be the host institution for this moving event. Anyone who has attended one of these ceremonies will tell you they are special, rather moving events."

The event is free and open to the public.

It is sponsored by the UNI New Iowans Center and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
