CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A train derailment in Cedar Rapids caused an oil spill Monday morning. It happened on the CRANDIC tracks between 12th Ave. SW and 14th Ave. SW near 10th St.

The Iowa Northern Railway Company was moving rail cars on the tracks when a switch malfunctioned. This caused an engine to push another one off the tracks and punctured a fuel tank.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says they couldn't stop the leak and were pumping the fuel out. They said the DNR and other authorities had been notified.

There was no public risk at any time.
