Black Hawks win 8th straight, clinch 3 seed in playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS (KWWL) -

The Waterloo Black Hawks put up big offensive numbers again on Sunday finishing the regular season with a 5-2 win at Indiana.  The victory helped Waterloo close out the regular season with 8 consecutive victories.

It seems we've seen this story before.  Just like last season, the Black Hawks will go to the playoffs as the #3 seed in the West.  Also like last year, which culminated with a runner-up finish in the Clark Cup finals, Waterloo is the hottest team in the USHL going in to the postseason.

The Black Hawks Liam Pecararo deflected a shot in to the net as they'd jump out to an early 1-0 lead after the first period.  Indiana tied it in the second, but Waterloo reeled off three straight goals from Tim Lappin, Justin Kloos, and Ryan Papa to take control after two periods.  Taylor Cammarata, the league's leading scorer, capped the game with an empty netter in the final minute.

Waterloo finished the regular season with 39 wins, the most in franchise history.
