Willowwind students' original artwork on display in Iowa City

Original art created by Willowwind's K-6 students is now on display in the children's section of the Iowa City Public Library.

A rotating exhibition of their work will be available for viewing until May 31.

The showcase includes different projects submitted throughout the year, including mixed media works, watercolors, drawings, canvas paintings and masks.

Reflecting on students' work, Willowwind Art Instructor Ryan Bentzinger remarked that he was "very impressed" with the variety of work and skill levels.

"Since the beginning of the year, the students have gone beyond my expectations," he said. "It was wonderful to be reminded of this as I reflected on what they'd learned throughout the year while hanging their artwork at the library.

"We've had opportunities to paint benches downtown, we've studied artifacts with the UI Museum of Art and the list goes on," Bentzinger added. "So much of our work is community-focused. Because of this, we're grateful for this opportunity on behalf of the Iowa City Public Library."
