IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
University of Iowa senior Justin Austin has been named Big Ten track and field co-athlete of the week following three first-place finishes at the Jim Click Shootout last weekend.

Austin, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., raced to the top of the conference rankings with a pair of titles in the open 100 and 200 meters. He crossed the finish line of the 100 meters in 10.37, and his 200-meters time of 20.55 ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 2 in the nation. He also ran the second leg on the Hawkeyes' record-setting 400-meter relay team (39.35).

Austin was named Big Ten track athlete of the year in 2011, but the weekly conference award is the first of his career. He shares the honor with Penn State's Brannon Kidder. The weekly award is the first this season for the Hawkeyes, and the first since Erik Sowinski earned the honor in April of 2011.

Iowa returns to the track this weekend at the Lee Calhoun Invitational in Macomb, Ill.
