First Eastern Iowa Honor Flight of 2013 departs this month

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight's first flight of 2013 will depart from the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, April 23.

Veterans will begin arriving at the airport at 5 a.m. for flight processing.

Scheduled departure time is 7 a.m., with an estimated arrival time at Reagan National in Washington, D.C., at 10:15 a.m. Eastern.

This flight is being sponsored by a World War II veteran and his wife.

Mike also serves as a veteran's advisor on the board of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight and passionately believes that every veteran who is able to go on a flight should go.

There are a total of 83 veterans on this flight. Thirty-eight of them are World War II veterans and 45 are Korean veterans.
