IDNR using new system to organize boat registrations

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Iowa officials are using a new system to help organize boat registrations in the state.

The Department of Natural Resources said a boat's registration information, title and decals will now be on the same document.

Residents can register their boat in their county. Nonresidents can register in the county where their boat is stationed.

Officials tell owners to bring current registration to speed up the renewal process. It also contains important information such as make, model year, hull identification number, length and width.

Registrations are good for three years.
