CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Cedar Rapids residents may notice a slight increase in utility bills. The city council unanimously approved to move forward with raising the city's franchise fees for electricity and natural gas from one to two percent.
That means if your electric bill is $100 per month you'll have a one dollar fee increase.
The move is expected to generate $3.4 million for the city's general fund and will go in effect this summer.
