1 in 4 melanoma survivors don't use sunscreen

New research has revealed that an average of one in four melanoma survivors do not use sunscreen.

In addition, 2 percent of survivors admitted to using a tanning bed in the past year.

These results are based on a Yale study of 171 patients who have recovered from melanoma, one of the most deadly skin cancers.

While melanoma patients generally did a better job at protecting themselves from the sun than the general public, researchers say there is room for improvement.

Experts recommend that everyone who spends more than an hour outside on a sunny day wear sunscreen.
