Iowa farmers heading into fields, according to first crop report

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The first Iowa Crops and Weather Report of the planting season shows more farmers are getting into the fields.

The recent batch of warm weather has allowed farmers, mostly in southern Iowa, to start the planting process.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey says much of the state remains quite dry. However, he is hopeful that more rain, like today's precipitation, will help bring up moisture levels in the soil.
