JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

A judge has sentenced a former University of Iowa student from China to up to 17 years in prison.

Peng Tang was sentenced Monday morning in a Johnson County courthouse.

Police say 22-year-old Tang made arrangements to tour an apartment in March 2012. A female UI student had advertised the apartment for sublease.

Officials say Tang asked to see the bedroom, and sexually assaulted the woman.

They say Tang then took nude photos of her and threatened to post them online if she told anyone.
