A conference at the University of Iowa aims to shed light on refugees living in the Midwest.

The "Refugees in the Heartland" conference begins Thursday, lasting for three days in Iowa City.

Keynote speaker Kenneth Quinn, the former U.S. ambassador to Cambodia, will speak Thursday night. He is currently leading the World Food Prize Foundation.

There will also be panel discussion Friday and Saturday that will cover topics such as immigration reform.
