DES MOINES (KWWL) -
An Iowa House Judiciary Committee chairman has blocked legislation that would put harder safety restrictions on windows in new buildings.
The measure was tailored to prevent children from falling through the window.
The Senate had approved the bill, and a House subcommittee passed it as well. However, Republican Rep. Chip Baltimore of Boone said Wednesday he wouldn't let the full Judiciary Committee take up the proposal.
In a statement released Wednesday, Baltimore said he had not seen enough data proving the bill would be the best way to prevent those sorts of accidents.
