MARION (KWWL) -

Linn-Mar High School has announced that Teresa Kehe will be the Lions' next head volleyball coach.

Kehe, a 1981 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, will also be a physical education teacher at the high school.

Kehe is credited with starting the Tripoli High School volleyball team, coaching the Panthers for 23 years.

She led Tripoli to the state title game in eight consecutive years, winning six state titles. She compiled a record of 579-140-37 at Tripoli from 1983-2005.

After Tripoli, Kehe went on to Loras College where she was the head coach for seven years. The Duhawks won the IIAC Conference twice and received an NCAA tournament bid for the first time in school history in 2008.

Kehe has served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Loras College for the last 7 years. She compiled a record of 132-112 with the Duhawks, winning the IIAC conference twice, named IIAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and led her team to a NCAA tournament bid in 2008 (first in school history.)

At Tripoli, Kehe was a National Coach of the Year Finalist twice and was inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2011. At Loras, she was named IIAC Coach of the Year in 2008.

"We are so excited to have Coach Kehe here at Linn-Mar," Associate Athletic Director Tonya Moe said in a written statement. "Her success as a volleyball coach speaks for itself, but what is more important is her philosophy of teaching, coaching and working with young people in general. This philosophy is exactly what we are looking for as an instructor and Head Volleyball Coach at Linn-Mar.

"She is a tremendous role model who has the best interest of student-athletes 100% of the time," Moe added. "She will have an outstanding impact on the students in her classroom and her players. We are confident Coach Kehe is the right person to lead our volleyball program here at Linn-Mar."

The Linn-Mar School Board approved Kehe's hire at Monday night's meeting.
