ANAMOSA (KWWL) -

More than 1,200 voters in Jones County made it out to the polls Tuesday to vote on a $16.95 million bond issue.

Anamosa Superintendent Brian Ney said 781 people voted yes and 508 people voted no. There were only nine absentee ballots unaccounted for, with three ballots turned in on site.

The bond issue will pay for a new auditorium, two new music classrooms and a new practice gymnasium.

The money will also go towards remodeling the high school locker rooms, replacing playground equipment at the elementary school, and air-conditioning rooms in the high school and elementary.

Ney says the school also hopes to finish the high school baseball and softball fields on the new middle school campus.
