Kids hunt for Easter eggs in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A little rain didn't stop a large crowd from hunting for Easter eggs in Cedar Rapids Saturday afternoon.

The event was hosted by H.D. Youth Center, one of five free family events the organization hosts. The center was ruined in the 2008 floods and is working to rebuild.

Saturday, however, was about strengthening families by having fun together; exploring the square outside NewBo City Market looking for those eggs with candy treats hidden inside.

"You get to search for stuff and you get to be with your family and friends and have fun," said 10-year-old Makenzie Vifian.

The H.D. Youth Center hosts an Easter egg hunt every year. Organizers say this was the largest crowd they've ever seen.
