Results from Traffic Safety Check Point in Cedar Rapids

The results are in from "Traffic Safety Check Point" conducted by the Cedar Rapids Police Department Friday night in the 4400 block of 6th Street S.W.

Police officers stopped and inspected 53 vehicles. Of those, four drivers were tested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) with two being arrested for OWI, one possession of a controlled substance, one possession of drug paraphernalia, three insurance tickets, two no drivers License tickets, one seatbelt ticket, one warrant for second degree theft and one probation contact.

There were also numerous warnings issued for equipment, registration and seatbelt violations.

This Traffic Safety Check Point is part of a national campaign from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Crackdown 2013" campaign is a national campaign, focusing on alcohol/drug impaired driving. The Cedar Rapids Police Department receives funding for extra enforcement.

This is one of several focused enforcement check points throughout the year.
