Military tuition assistance won't be cut, Pentagon picking up tab

Encouraging news for military veterans hoping to stay in college.

The U.S. military's tuition assistance program will not be suspended after all.  The Department of Defense said Wednesday it will pick up the tab for all four branches of the military.

The Army, Marines and Air Force had recently suspended tuition assistance programs due to forced sequester cuts.

But congress passed a government funding bill which prevents the Pentagon from making cuts to the program.

Service members can receive up to $4,500 a year to continue their education.
