Georgia knocks Cyclone women out of NCAA Tournament, again.

SPOKANE, Wash. (KWWL) -

For the third time since 1999, the Georgia Women's basketball team knocks the Iowa State Cyclones out of the NCAA Tournament.  The Bulldogs took advantage of a Cyclone cold spell to begin the second half to beat Iowa State 65-60 and advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

The game was tied at halftime at 32, Iowa State only made 1 field goal in the first 11:25 of the second half as Georgia built a 51-37 lead with 8:54 to play.  The Cyclones then went on a 19-1 run to take a 56-52 lead on an Ann Prins 3 pointer with 2:32 to go.  But Georgia outscored the Cyclones 13-4 to close the game.  Anna Prins led Iowa State with 23 points while former Aplington-Parkersburg star Chelsea Poppens scored 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in her final game in a Cyclones uniform.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
