DES MOINES (KWWL) -

38-year-old Michael Lally from Barnes City is Iowa's newest millionaire.

Lally matched the five white numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, and also bought the power play option to double his prize, to $2 million dollars.

Four other tickets in Iowa won $10,000.

Lally says he bought his ticket Saturday morning in Oskaloosa, while he was running errands. He says he usually buys five tickets every Saturday, but this time, bought the tickets at a different store than usual because he was on the opposite side of town.

He bought his tickets at Kum & Go, 1201 N. Market St. in Oskaloosa, on the way to a birthday party for his mother.  He was plowing snow early Monday morning in What Cheer when he decided to stop a convenience store and check his ticket.

Michael is a single father.  His son is a junior in high school, so his lottery winnings will help pay for college education. He also will put a lot away for retirement.

The Iowa Lottery says a total of 34,714 tickets purchased by Iowa Lottery players won prizes ranging from $4 up to $2 million in Saturday's drawing.

The overall jackpot winner was sold to someone in New Jersey.

The winning numbers were 17-29-31-52-53 and Powerball 31.
